Interactive 3D heat map of U.S. environmental records (EPA-regulated facilities, toxic releases, wastewater outfalls, Superfund sites, prisons, air permits, earthquakes and floods) with a county disease overlay: cancer deaths and new cases by type, life expectancy and child mortality against the U.S. rate. Zoom in and the hexagons get finer. Where a disease hotspot sits under a cluster of polluters, scan an address there for the records behind it.
Hexagon columns show clusters of EPA-regulated facilities, toxic release sites, wastewater outfalls, air permits, Superfund sites, earthquakes and flood events; taller and redder columns hold more and more severe records. An optional overlay shades each county by the selected disease or mortality rate against the U.S. rate. The same records are listed as text on each county page.
